SO GOOD JEWELRY SOHO
496 Broadway
[4, 5, 6 to Spring Street]
I made a new friend at work - a fellow intern who is super fashionable. Let's go shopping!, she implored me. Not that either of us bought anything. Almost. But I did learn about some awesome spots in the neighborhood.
So Good Jewelry is where Rachel met her college roommate freshman year. They decided to meet up and bond a bit to minimze the chances of killing each other by the time they would have to share a 10' x 12' box. Apparently they browsed the place for about two hours, creating a life-long bond over their shared love of jewelry. And small wonder; there are bits and bangles of every shape, size and material here; big clunky wood, delicate turquoise, snazzy belts, a feather or two. The staff is unobtrusive; they certainly hover, but they don't harass. The one caveat is the unavoidability of dropping a ridiculous amount of money on odds and ends. To paraphrase Rachel, its so easy to grap this, that and the other (because its so cheap) and heading to check out. Then you get there and its like Oh shit, you've spent $30, including tax. But on the other hand, you've got 5 pairs of cute earrings.
